While at a house warming Ceremony was exposed to some 10+ varieties of vegetarian dishes served in delicate amounts one after the other. Was curious to know the significance of the number and the serving pattern. There was sugar , followed by pickle , followed by some boiled corn mix – i loose track.
Checked with a neighbour who is a pukka south indian – but he couldnt throw much light.

But i believe there is a sequence in which the various dishes are served and also a significance to the number of them.
Anybody who can throw some light?
